Golf has always played a huge part in my life. More so than ever since hanging up my football boots, golf has been great way to stay fit, spend time with friends and challenge myself like no other sport can do.
During the last decade I have built up an extensive knowledge for golf holidays in Spain, Northern France and the UK. In 2019 I was fortunate enough to visit Sotogrande and play La Reserva, Finca Cortesin and Valderrama which to date is the best tour my group have been on. Valderrama (former Ryder cup host) as many will testify is the closest condition to Augusta as you will find in the world and quickest greens I have ever played on. The course is manicured and designed to absolute perfection.
In addition, I always think at least once a year every golfer should pack their clubs in the car, keep things simple and experience some of the best golf resorts in the UK. From the Forest of Arden, Barnham Broom and The Dorset there many options we can assist with here at 360 Golf Holidays including bespoke Ireland and Scotland tours.
After visiting the Algarve in 2010 and playing San Lorenzo I was in awe of the condition and layout of golf courses in Portugal. I will never forget playing that famous stretch at San Lorenzo for the first time (holes 4 – 7) which are truly breath-taking. Hole 4 is my favourite hole in Europe and offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, requiring the ultimate precision off the tee to avoid the lake on the right-hand side. Somehow, after just holding onto the first cut I managed to hole my second shot and pick up an eagle which is a moment that will live with me forever. The 6 or 7 blobs I had on the rest of the card were quickly forgotten of course! But I always find that’s what keeps us all coming back for more those unique moments at truly special golf courses.
My career in the golf travel industry started 9 years ago and I have been lucky enough to travel across Europe to destinations such the Algarve, Lisbon, Sotogrande, Le Touquet and Belek. My favourite destination would have to be the Algarve and my number 1 course is Palmares. Located slightly further west than the other main Algarve attractions the course features a mix of links style holes, parkland holes and inland holes. The stunning location of Palmares is well worth the journey from the central Algarve offering incredible views of Meia Praia beach and the Alvor Estuary. The green fee is also one of the more reasonable in the Algarve making Palmares a true hidden gem. Other notable mentions within Portugal include Quinta do Lago South, West Cliffs and Penha Longa which are all a must play for any golfer.
I am delighted to be a part of the team here at 360 Golf Holidays and look forward to getting you over to some of these fantastic destinations very soon.
