Our Favourite Golf Courses on the Island:

Golf Las Americas

  • A popular Tenerife golf holiday destination, you will find this golf course at the centre of Playa de Las Americas where it is waiting to for the next unassuming golfer to set up at the first tee. The amazing greenery is contrasted by the mountains in the distance, giving golfers a mesmerising setting. Even the most talented of golfers will be challenged by this course, but it is still kind to those who are less experienced due to the forward tee positions. The course has a real character with soft undulations, giving golfers something to think about. There are water hazards throughout the course, and so, good course management is an absolute must while it also helps you are accurate with the club in hand.

Amarilla Golf

  • There are not many golf courses in Tenerife positioned on top of magnificent cliff tops that overlook the Atlantic Ocean, this golf course offers not only incredible views but also a great round of golf. The views over Mount Teide are a beautiful sight as golfers make their way around this Donald Steel course. It is a course that requires the right placement, mainly where the water hazards could come into the play. The real jewel in the crown for this golf course is the Par 3 5thhole where golfers have to drive the ball over the ocean below to reach the green. This is not the longest of golf courses, but it certainly will test your game.

Golf del Sur Tenerife

  • Golfers love how this golf course incorporates a mixture of tight fairways and fairways that tempt golfers into challenging shots. This is a course that requires golfers to take a systematic approach with palm trees and cacti lining the fairways giving golfers something to think about. The greens are fantastic and will be hard to bear as they are fast and dependable, with threatening slopes that make putts hard to read. The course is positioned on the coast, and so, it often succumbs to winds from the Atlantic, giving golfers something else to think about. A unique golf course, with black sand bunkers and lush green fairways, it captures the imagination and offers a spectacular golfing experience.

Costa Adeje

  • This golf course is the original 18 hole course in Tenerife and is now known as “The Old Course”, but it certainly does not disappoint in respect of Tenerife golf breaks. It is ideally located on the coastline and offers spectacular views of La Gomera Island. It is now in its 20thyear and is now an established course on the island with an additional 9-hole course being recently added. The fairways are expansive, but it is still a course that requires a considered approach. There are elevations, undulations and water hazards to keep you on your toes throughout the round. This is a course that will bring pure joy to all.

Buena Vista

  • Buena Vista Golf is a golf course that is surrounded by the beautiful Teno mountain range. This course offers golfers a round that is encompassed by picturesque scenery that will enhance any round of golf. The positioning of the course could not be better as it is perched on top of cliffs with views over the glistening Atlantic Ocean. The course is always a threat to golfers as it pushes their ability, something synonymous with Ballesteros designed golf courses. This is another golf course that has generous fairways, but the smart design of the course, which makes its way along the cliff edge does enhance the challenge. In comparison to other courses, this might be a slightly different course, but it is indeed worth a try.

Tenerife Overview For Golfers:

The largest of the Canary Islands and the most popular for golf breaks. The island is divided into two separate climate groups with the north of the island cooler and much greener and features two courses. The south is the sunnier and warmer part of the island featuring five other top quality golf courses.

When To Visit

Tenerife has always been known to be a holiday destination that basks in sunshine all year round and that makes it the perfect location for all golf lovers. With highs of 21 degrees in the winter, Tenerife is an excellent choice for all year round golf, at least, that’s our opinion!

Flight times from the UK to Tenerife take approximately 4 hours. It only takes just over 1 hour to get from one side of the island to the other, and It boasts two airports, so the transfer times from the airport to resort are never very long.

Golf & Resorts

For golfers who are looking for winter sun, excellent courses and breathtaking views, Tenerife offers it all. Every golf course has been uniquely designed, and so, they are a challenge for golfers of all abilities.

This volcanic island is a place of wondrous beauty, but with a high amount of sunshine, it is the perfect choice for any time of year. Along with the excellent course, many stunning golf hotels cater to the needs of all golfers. Tenerife is a golfers paradise in more ways than one.

The golf courses here are stunning if you are planning a golf trip. Our favourites include Abama, Amarilla and Costa Adeje golf course. Regarding nightlife, there are some more lively resorts like Las Americas, or you can choose to stay in the more golf-focused resorts of Sol Tenerife.

If it rests your group is looking for, then we can advise on some of the islands stunning beaches. The West side of the island is more volcanic and a bit more relaxing. The South coast has more of a party beach atmosphere with Playa Las Americas and Costa Adeje providing beach bars and clubs day and night. Playa de las Vistas is worth a visit with its long sweeping beach on the South coast.
