The 27-holes Golf Championship at The Dorset is designed by the prolific architect Martin Hawtree, who recently designed the Donald Trumps Link Course in Scotland, and advises on the R&A renovation of the St Andrews Open courses.
In the 27 holes of golf, the same design of wide clover-shaped bunkers and immense undulating greens runs throughout.
Golf
Martin Hawtree is very famous for his tricky shaped bunkers that stereotypically are shaped like clovers and are generally pretty wide. deceptive, undulating greens And that is effectively what you’ll find here at The Dorset. The Lakeland & Parkland are the longest of the three courses with more than half of the holes where lakes come into play.
The Woodland Course is a little shorter and a Rhododendron Forest is drawn through it. This unique course presents a tough positional challenge and looks fantastic with wall to wall flowers lining the fairway on each hole in May & June!
The courses in the summer and winter are both known for playing very differently. The courses play really American in the winter with essential, target-like golf conditions. iThe greens have excellent drainage and due to rainy weather, the course never closes. In the summer when the sun drys the course up almost plays like a links-like golf course.
