Golf

Tenerife with its year-round temperate, has the majority of its golf courses located in the warmer South of the island. The first of the its Championship golf courses to be built is Golf del Sur this 27 Hole links design has hosted numerous Spanish Opens. Adjacent to and very much a close neighbour is the ever popular Amarilla golf course, this championship layout runs along the Southern coastline to San Miguel de Abona. Be aware of its unusual black volcanic bunkers, filled not with sand but crushed volcanic rock. The 27 hole Costa Adeje golf course is another great layout running from the hillside, carved into the face of the cliff in stepped fairways, down to the Ocean.  A visually spectacular course the 18 Holes of the Costa Adeje Championship course are always busy and booking up to 12 months in advance is advisable. In between the Costa Adeje and San Miguel is the lush green layout of the championship Las Americas golf course, another established and popular championship course sitting adjacent to the popular resort of the same name. Abama golf course is the youngest of the course in the south having only opened its doors in 2005, this Dave Thomas impressive design is not only visually spectacular, and is arguably the best test on the island and one that definately should be on your bucket-list of courses to play.
