Located in the North of the island in El Penon Tacaronte is the impressive Real Club de Golf de Tenerife. Founded in 1932, it is Spain's second oldest golf club after Real club de golf de Las Palmas, and although in Tenerife it retains a typically British air of distinction.
This par 71 golf course has 18 holes with undulating fairways that ascend with a spectacular view of Teide at 600m above sea level. The first 5 holes of the golf course go uphill away from the golf clubhouse, of course, what goes up must come down, most of the views are therefore spectacular The fourth hole is one of the most difficult because you must be on the green with your second shot due to out of bounds to the left and drops to the right.
Measuring just short of 6315 yards from the back tees it is a testing and yet enjoyable golf course with the impressive old trees that make it very pleasant and provide shade in some areas of the round.
Although a good 45-minute drive from the South it is well worth every minute, an English-style golf course in the sunshine of Tenerife.
