South Wales has a great history of UK golf and golfing Venues and is where a majority of the Championship golf courses are located and played. Wales as a nation has an extensive collection of golf courses with many most of us have never even heard of – some however we have. The Vale Resort, Which is so popular for golfing weekends is situated in the Vale Of Glamorgan on just 650 acres, just a short 15 minutes drive from the heart of vibrant Cardiff with its bars restaurants and St Davids waterfront. As well as a short distance from Bristol Airport.
The Vale Resort is a self-contained beautiful Welsh countryside resort and a firm favourite for all National and International sports teams. Both rugby and football are accommodated here; with indoor and outdoor 3G pitches along with a swimming pool, a state-of-the-art gym and cryotherapy chambers to help speed recovery.
Where to play Golf: The Wales National & The Lakes
Championship golf is very much high on the agenda here with green fees available on the resort with two golf courses The Wales National course and the Lakes course. The fully equipped golf shop serves both golf courses with an on-site driving range available too. The Lake Golf Course was the first to be built, with the Hotel, then Wales National course followed closely behind. Now the resort boasts two championship golf courses.
The Vale Resort in the Vale of Glamorgan offers other activities too; specifically, the award-winning Vale Spa having received recognition as Wales Best Resort Spa three years in a row commencing in 2017. The spa features no less than five relaxation areas, a shopping boutique and for those looking for just a quiet coffee then the Chai Café fits the bill every time. There is also a health club with a gym and fitness centre offering no less than 55 cardiovascular machines along with free weight and high-intensity training programmes along with just over 80 fitness classes. The Spa and leisure centre is Wales largest spa facility, so why not enjoy a sauna and steam or a dip in the swimming pool after a round on the national course.
Trip Advisor ranks the resort highly with outstanding reviews for all facilities. The Vale also has a great choice of 'aa rosette' gastronomy, lunchtime snacks and light dining welsh menu can be taken either at the golf club or a speciality of beer-battered fish and chips at the Vale Bar. For those looking for an a la carte dining option, The Vale Resort does not disappoint, with the Vale Grill the menu includes locally sourced fresh ingredients created into fantastic dishes. The Resort offers a fabulous dinner bed and breakfast option. The Vale Grill is one of our favourite resort dining options.
Socialising with a friend both before and after dinner can be easily accommodated at either the Vale bar or Salamanza Bar which happens to have specialised in cheeky cocktails or celebrate with a glass or three of Laurent Perrier champagne.
The Vale Resort hotel has 143 rooms and suites all appointed to a high standard; in fact, a higher standard than you come to expect of a Resort that is only a four-star. All rooms are modern and airy in design all with high-speed internet, tea and coffee making facilities and 24-hour room service to name but a few.
The Vale is a great place to stay set in acres of beautiful Welsh countryside whether it's for a golf spa or just a chill-out getaway in South Wales, it's one of our favourites for many reasons, all listed above and then some. The resort is also very convenient to explore nearby restaurants and attractions.
