Where to Stay: Bovey Castle Hotel
A fantastic golf course right in the heart of the Dartmoor National Park, The original design opened for play in the 1920s and was designed by John Abercromby. The course was enjoyed for years before falling into a state of disrepair. In 2004 the hotel and golf course was bought by a local Millionaire that invested in the vision and knowledge required from Donald Steel and Tom Mckensie, Both course designers had plenty of pedigree designing and remodeling great golf courses all over Europe.
With Bovey Castle, both men already had a field of natural beauty with the River Bovey and a mass of valleys and interesting landscape to work with. The new Championship layout measures 6,300 yards from the championship tees and is a pure test of golf in one of the most beautiful natural surroundings in the country. The front nine holes feature water on six of the holes and can test even the best golfers. The championship course has held Europro tour events and is a firm favourite with our customers. With excellent stay and play packages available and excellent for golf societies as well as groups, Bovey Castle should be considered when planning your next U.K Golf break.
