Sandford Springs makes an excellent golf break in the rolling hills of Berkshire and Hampshire. There are 27 holes of Championship golf on offer as well as superb practice facilities making Sandford Springs an excellent choice for groups and societies as well as couples.
The three loops of nine holes named: The Park, The Woods and The Lakes complete this fantastic golf course that opened for play by Nick Faldo in 1989.
Hawtree and Sons have designed the Course.
Most would regard the Park as the easier of the three loops but rest assured the condition is tip top and is a thoroughly enjoyable challenge. The 9th hole is a great driveable par 4 downhill to a green 270 yards away, However only the brave would take on as you do have to clear a rather large water hazard to land on the dancefloor. The Woods is heavily tree-lined as the same suggests with mature oak and beech trees framing the majority of the fairways and only straight tee shots will give you seriously scorable opportunities. The woods would be our favourite nine holes on offer and is a real test for all levels of golfer.
The Lakes has five holes where water comes into play, and the 3rd hole on this loop is a great little par 3 that requires a precise shot over the water to a green where a straight putt is like winning the lottery.
Sanford Springs makes for a perfect weekend getaway.
