Viceroy at Ombria is quite different from a conventional Vilamoura golf break. It is a peaceful, self-contained luxury resort where the hotel, spa, countryside setting and on-site golf course are all central to the experience.
We would recommend it most strongly to couples, smaller premium golf groups and mixed parties where not everyone intends to play every day. The standard of accommodation is high, the golf course is immediately beside the hotel and there is enough within the resort to enjoy a slower day away from the course.
Groups wanting a busy marina, a wide choice of nightlife within walking distance and several golf courses reached by a short shuttle may be better suited to Vilamoura. Ombria works best when the aim is to stay somewhere quieter, play a distinctive course and enjoy the resort itself.

Viceroy at Ombria Algarve is a five-star countryside golf resort near Loulé, approximately 25 to 30 minutes from Faro Airport. Opened in October 2024, the resort has been designed to resemble a traditional Algarve village, with whitewashed buildings, cobbled paths and views across the surrounding hills and golf course.
The main advantage for golfers is convenience. The 18-hole Ombria Golf Course and clubhouse are within the resort, allowing guests to stay and play without arranging a separate golf transfer. The course is played using buggies, which are included on the featured 360 Golf Holidays package.
Away from the course, guests have access to four swimming pools, a full-service spa, fitness facilities and a varied selection of restaurants and bars. Rooms, suites and one or two-bedroom residences also make the resort suitable for couples, groups and longer stays.
The location is intentionally quiet. Loulé, Vilamoura and the Algarve coastline can all be visited by car or taxi, but this is not a resort for golfers wanting bars and nightlife immediately outside the hotel.

Cafe Central - Open for all meals and serves a wide range of Portuguese and Mediterranean cuisine.
Bellvino - Doubles as a popular wine bar serving the very best in Mediterranean cuisine, all in a quiet Romantic atmosphere.
Solalua - Specialising in Mediterranean cuisine - open each evening for dinner and has and inviting cocktail Hour too.
Ombria Kitchen - All three meals are offered here - with Portuguese and International cuisine, great family atmosphere.

The Viceroy overlooks the latest 18 hole championship golf course, The Ombria Golf Course opened its doors in 2023 and has risen to become one of Portugal's most popular golf courses to play. Just a short 30 minutes drive from Vilamoura booking early to get a Tee-Time here is essential.
