Real Club de Sotogrande Golf Course

Where to Stay: Hotel Encinar de Sotogrande

The original Championship golf course in Costa Del Sol this gem sits at the heart of Sotogrande, adjacent to the Marina and 30 minutes from Gibraltar International Airport.

The Real Club de Golf Sotogrande is another one of the great golf courses to come out of the Robert Trent Jones Snr Worldwide portfolio, a portfolio now standing at over some 500 golf courses. The golf course in Spain opened in 1964 and soon attracted Costa's elite and even faces from film and pop.

The golf course designed in typical Trent Jones style takes in the natural terrain and makes the best of it. This par 72 measures some 6,34 yards from the back pegs. Its location is just a stone's throw from the Mediterranean sea. It has long tee-boxes with wide-open fairways leading it to guarded elevated greens. With numerous Tee boxes to choose from, this classic golf course is suitable for golfers of all abilities. We have been lucky enough to play it. So we are giving you the same well deserved opportunity to include as part of your Costa del Sol golf break in Spain.

A Robert Trent Jones Design.

Real Club de Golf Sotogrande is a true well-designed golf course and revolutionary in transporting the region into what is now known as the Costa del Golf, which now has over 70 golf courses of superb standards stretching the coastline.

The course features water on at least five of the inward holes and is as if Jones had had visions of his work on Augusta National! Whether he did or not, we will never know. What is certain is that in Real Club de Golf, Sotogrande Jones produced a beautiful and significant golf course.
