The Championship Course, engineered by renowned Donald Steel, is among the finest hidden gems in the nation. And along with the 36 Holes on Offer split across the 6,500 yard Par 71 Premier Course or the 7041 yards Par 73 Championship Course, Portal also has the largest indoor golf academy in Europe.

Golf

Still a reasonably young course, Portal has marvelously evolved over the twenty-odd years of its life. The championship course even was voted 'Golf Course of the Year' in 1995, at just five years old, and has defined itself as one of the best golf courses in northern Europe.

It was constructed, by master architect Donald Steel alongside the great clubhouse, and offers the best service and experience in the northwest of England for both individual golfers as well as large society golf groups. Together with sister golf courses, Premier and Championship, and the largest indoor golf academy in the United Kingdom, Portal's golf resort has all that golf enthusiasts might want, fine golf courses with great views of the countryside, an excellent clubhouse, and great service.

Facilities

The accommodation comprises 85 rooms and 6 executive suites, each complete with a minibar, internet access, tea/coffee making facilities, an en-suite bathroom, satellite TV, and a work area. The suites have private balconies, which offer beautiful views of the beautiful estate encircling the hotel. Opulence is the talking point in Portal's state-of-the-art Spa, launched in September 2007. Relieving serene surroundings will soothe mind , body and soul, supplemented by a sauna, a rock sauna, an aroma steam bath, a salt infusion suite and an ice bath.
