As the name suggests, Islantilla Golf Resort is home to more than just a golf course. You will find a splendid 4-star hotel in addition to a beach club, FIFA standard football pitches and great events but it is the golf course which attracts much of the attention.
Located between the Isla Cristina and the marshlands of Piedras river on the Costa de la Luz, the 27-hole golf course at Islantilla Golf Resort has played host to some of the biggest tournaments in this region of Spain. It has been listed as one of the best golf courses in Europe by Golf Digest and hosted the European Tour, the only course in Huelva to hold such a distinction.
The 27-holes at Islantilla Golf Resort are split into three sets of nine holes and you can combine them as you wish. The gently sloping fairways and stunning sea views are there regardless of which holes you play but the Blue Course is the most difficult, while the yellow course is regarded as being the least challenging.
Water comes into play occasionally but is not a major feature of Islantilla Golf Resort. Bunkers are frequent, especially near landing areas on the fairway and around the greens making accuracy key to a good round.
The practise facility and academy in Islantilla is one of the most extensive in the province of Huelva, and is the best spot for PGA professionals to obtain any technical advice.
Islantilla is a firm favourite for pro groups and larger societies looking for a relaxed trip away whilst playing some excellent golf.
