Isla Canela Golf Club is located adjacent to the Guadiano River on the outskirts of Ayemonte in southern Spains's Costa de la Luz region. With 36 holes of golf Isla Canela is now a true test of golf, of very different qualities...
The Isla Canela Old
The Old course is the original one this Juan Catarineu designed 18 hole golf course opened its doors in 1993. A relatively flat course and easy to walk has wide open fairways running between the dunes giving the impression that it is an easy golf course. There are many olive, eucalyptus and oranges trees along with strategically placed palms all ready to provide more than testing natural hazards for this wayward shots. The more fair est of golf than its sister course and great for golfers of all abilities.
Isla Canela Links
Thew Links course came later than the old and opened in 2007 originally called Costa Esuri West, its designer José Canales used the natural terrain of the course running adjacent to the Guadiana river to his advantage. A beautiful course with plenty of water with no less than 9 holes affected by lakes. The Links course is a great test of and has numerous outstanding holes. The 3rd hole, a par 3 is a tricky little hole with your tee-shot having to carry the lake entirely to land on this well guarded green. Our choice of the two courses the Links course will be the talking pojnt of that well deserved refreshment at the 19th hole.
