Hanbury Manor Golf Resort is a fantastic golf course that was first laid down as a 9-hole golf course by the great Harry Vardon. This was in the early 1900’s next to the Jacobean-style manor house owned by the Hanbury family. In 1991 Jack Nicklaus’s eldest Son Jack Nicklaus II was tasked with the remodel of the original 9-holes and the design of a further nine. Thus completing a fantastic championship layout that was the host to the English Open from 1997 - 1999.
Initially, the course opened with an exciting exhibition match between Ryder Cup legend Tony Jacklin and two-time major winner Dave Stockton.
The course today is still hosting the European Seniors Masters and is kept in immaculate condition year-round.
Jack Jnr has completed an expert job in the design at Hanbury Manor golf course and created an exciting golf course of Championship standard and measures a healthy 6,600 from the medal tees.
Subsequently, there is a distinct difference between the two nine holes at Hanbury, the newer nine holes have an American like feel to them, which is much more exposed and allows you to open the shoulders and hit the ball with full venom. The back nine is far more traditional and park-like and is rewarded for precision from the tee.
