Designed by the great Golf course architect Donald Steel, Tudor Park golf club preserves an ancestral deer park's natural beauty to produce a demanding par-70 championship course. Magnificent surroundings and views of the countryside run deep as it winds around ancient pines, fly-fishery, and more.
Besides enjoying an impressive Amateur career, Donald Steel is an admired golf writer and historian who got his start in the design business in 1965 with Frank Pennink. Donald has gone on to design some wonderful golf courses in his time. Our favourite is the Dooks in Ireland.
Donald summarized his philosophy of golf course design in the following statement:
"Golf course architecture is a creative endeavour. It should be the art of the possible. Making courses impossible is easy. Spectacular holes undoubtedly lift any course, but enjoyment is the watchword and golfers find little enjoyment in losing balls attempting long carries over water or in knee-high rough."
Tudor Park golf course is a fine example of how golf can be fair for professional and amateur alike.
Tudor Park is located only 30 miles away from London, but it feels like a world away from the capital. The golf course is a fine parkland design with a large array of different golf holes. The fairways are relatively generous so that golfers will enjoy opening their shoulders, but Tudor Park should not be underestimated, especially following the recent introduction of several new bunkers.
This venue hosted the Europro Tour Events in 2003 and 2004. There's a practice putting green and driving range on site.
Built-in 1988, The 18-hole, par 70 golf course showcases 6085 yards of pristine, narrow fairways lined with mature pine trees and sliding greens. Each hole displays its own character, offering everything from relaxed and friendly to some that will validate one 's skill and precision to the fullest.
The golf course is set up perfectly for individual groups, large golf groups and excellent for society golf, The 19th hole is great for counting scores and enjoying a few post-round beers.
The resort also features three restaurants, an on-site spa, an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor tennis court, and plenty more.
If you are based in the southeast of England and looking for an excellent value golf break or a society over-nighter, then the Marriott Tudor Park is an excellent and welcoming option.
