The Gainsborough is part of the fabulous 36 hole resort of Stoke by Nayland and has hosted several great golf competitions. The PGA Europro Tour, The European Seniors Tour, and the European Challenge Tour regularly use the Gainsborough as part of their fixture lists.
The Gainsborough has the edge over its sister course, the constable and can be stretched out to over 7,000 yards from the back tee position.
You have various holes, long and short holes, Doglegs in both directions, and significant elevation throughout the golf course. The best hole on the trail, in our opinion, is the 10th hole, par four at a little over 400 yards, where a drive over the lake is required to set up a short iron to a fantastic green.
Stoke by Nayland is a popular golf break in the East Anglia region for groups who want to play two championship courses and golf societies.
The resort is also popular with couples that want to enjoy the fantastic Spa facilities available on the resort.
The Constable golf course is located inside the wooded plantations and has several natural water hazards, ponds, and lakes in the tranquil Essex countryside.
The course is shorter than the Gainsborough Championship layout and is a fantastic second course at this fabulous resort. The 18th hole is a tremendous hole, which requires a precise tee shot over the vast lakes to a raised green on a plateau with the excellent clubhouse in the distance where you will be welcomed with warm hospitality and a great selection of lunch and dinner options.
