Hacienda Riquelme is located in a rural setting with open countryside near Sierra de Carrascoy in Murcia.
Hacienda Riquelme is set between the mountains and Sucina, a beautiful area that has been designated a regional natural park. The golf course has been designed to keep a natural look to the area.
Many of the golf courses in southern Spain like to challenge players with water hazards, and Hacienda Riquelme Golf Course does not disappoint in that respect. There are five lakes on this golf course, and the first sign of water appears on the 4th hole, making the fairway narrow on approach to the green.
However, you know you are playing a Nicklaus Design golf course from the first tee thanks to the huge, waste-style bunkers. These are found on both the fairway and around the greens. The par-3, 5th hole at Hacienda Riquelme Golf Course is a great example and although short, the green his surrounded by three huge bunkers. If you happen to stray either side of the green or land over the back, trouble awaits.
The 18 hole, par-72 golf course plays to 6,991 yards, and there are four sets of tees on each hole, making the course accessible for everyone. There are natural and subtle variations in elevation throughout the 18 holes, but nothing major, and the course use the land's contours nicely.
The par-4, 18th hole is a good finishing hole, with water running down the fairway's left side and some monstrous bunkers around the green.
This is a great golf course to add to a Murcia golf trail and perfect for your next trip to Spain.
