Trump International and Martin Hawtree have recently brought Doonbeg have completed a redesign that has turned Doonbeg into one of the must-play golf courses in Ireland. Greg Norman completed the original design in 2002.
Greg Norman must have been over the moon when presented the opportunity to build a course on this beautiful piece of land. With a coastal location, incredible sandy dunes, and a plentiful amount of natural undulations, Doonbeg's plot was a piece of land that would have any course architect salivating.
Norman designed the course with a philosophy of landscaping his way through the dunes in the most natural way, creating a unique design with five par 3s and five par 5s.
The par-72 layout features a loop of nine holes out and nine back which is very in keeping with the spirit of Links golf. The course plays 7,026 yards from the back tees which in modern-day terms a reasonable debut length for a links design.
Today’s Layout is a firm favourite with golfers that want to play outstanding links on the Wild Atlantic Way and the current sixth-best golf course on The Emerald Isle.
The Beautiful and most stunning natural landscape results in a quite magnificent links course providing vistas of the Atlantic from sixteen of its eighteen golf holes.
Playing golf at Trump International Ireland delivers a memorable experience, not only from the course itself but also gives you one of the most lavish and luxurious 5-star hotel stays.
Trump International Golf Links - Doonbeg Signature Hole:
Our signature hole would be the 18th Hole which is a 432 Yard Par 4.
Like the much-loved finishing hole at Pebble Beach, Greg Norman kept the longest stretch of coastal property for the 18th at Doonbeg.
Watch out for the two pot bunkers on the left-hand side of the fairway as they have the potential to wreck anyone's scorecard.
