Hampshire has several more excellent courses, including the New Forest Course at Brockenhurst Manor and Stoneham which has a growing reputation in the Southampton region. These are some of the top courses in the South of England.

Our Pick of the Top Golf Clubs in Hampshire

The top 10 golf courses in Hampshire have been listed below, so you can start exploring the golfing gems if you are considering a golfing break in this English county.

Liphook Golf Course

A hidden gem tucked away in Hampshire's rolling countryside. A classical parkland course with heath and woodland with the clubhouse offers a warm welcome for golfers of all abilities. Some fine holes to test your skills. Its tight fairways, bordered by heather, gorse, and trees, require accuracy. A relatively short course but this stunning picturesque course is ranked number one in Hampshire.

Old Thorns Golf Club

Old Thorns GC

The course is a picturesque parkland and forest hybrid with several distinctive golf courses and elevated tees, including some that offer panoramic views. The course displays a wide range of holes that are all distinctive, but the last stretch may give you something to think about. The 15th is a short par-4 that plays incredibly uphill and has two levels of greens. The steep hill and dogleg left means the journey isn't for the faint of heart.

Stoneham Golf Club

Stoneham is an idyllic woodland course located just off the M3 near Southampton. This course takes advantage of the natural character of the land, which has heather-lined fairways and rollercoaster greens. Even low handicappers will have a hard time navigating it since it features score-wrecking heather and small trees lining fairway greens and rollercoaster greens. The fairway is bordered by thick heather, making it difficult to find the ball. This is a course on which good course management will be rewarded.

Hayling golf club

Hayling Island is Hampshire's finest links course positioned above shingle beaches with views to the Solent. The area presents significant challenges when the wind is blowing, which is almost all of the time at Hayling. It's a great course for players who are up for testing their skills to the full. The seaside location provides stunning views, but it can be windy. As you play your tee shot on the 3rd hole, you get a glimpse of what lies ahead in terms of seeing beautiful views and the challenges that the course has in store.

Brockenhurst Manor Golf Club

Brockenhurst Manor Golf Course, which is located in Brockhurst in the New Forest town, is another fantastic course in Hampshire. The Harry Colt layout measures 6238 yards from the first tee and is rated 70. A lovely natural wooded/heathland course with trees, ferns, and huge bunkers lined up along the holes.

Blackmoor Golf Club

Established in 1913, Blackmoor was designed by legendary designer Harry Colt whose original plan has endured the test of time. Set near the lovely South Downs, you start off at a relatively innocent par-4 where a very well-struck drive should help you to get over a ditch in the fairway. For short hitters, putting the ball up is a great move, however. From that point, the difficulty increases substantially.

North Hants Golf Course

When the North Hants Golf Club opened in 1904, it was an ambitious undertaking. It offered a gentleman's club atmosphere to attract members from London, as well as a magnificent golf course, tennis courts, and croquet lawns of the highest quality.

The course was designed by James Braid, who extensively redefined it in 1913 under the guidance of Harry Colt, and again by Tom Simpson in 1930. Three new holes were created by Donald Steel in 2001, as well as a stunning new clubhouse. The club has a famous member in Justin Rose who has a function room dedicated to his performance in the British Open in 1998.

Hockley Golf Course

Hockley Golf Club was established in 1914 and designed by famed course architect James Braid. This is a fantastic course with beautiful views of Winchester.
