The course was designed by John Catarineu and if you have visited the island before, you will know about the wind and this has a big impact on every round at Fuerteventura Golf Club.
Home to an 18-hole championship golf course just a few minutes’ drives from the airport, making it a great place to play on the first or final day of your holiday.
That’s not to say the course is very difficult and the designer has opted for generous fairways and large greens to ensure players of all abilities can enjoy a round of golf. The island is known for sand but Fuerteventura Golf Club has the largest green space on the whole island and includes three lakes, which are connected by small streams.
The Atlantic Ocean provides a stunning backdrop to the front nine holes and you wouldn’t be the first if you took your eye off the ball briefly to marvel at the power of the sea. However, with the three lakes and the wind to deal with, concentration and good club selection are vital to scoring low at Fuerteventura Golf Club.
There are 67 bunkers on the course but these are not very deep and if you find your ball in the sand, you should not have a great deal of difficulty to escape.
Kept in great condition throughout the year, the Club is a great place to play at any time and is the perfect choice for golf lovers based in northern Europe during the winter, when the weather is not suitable for playing.
Learn to play with the wind on this course and you can go away happy with a low score but fail to deal with the conditions that can mean a good battle, especially on the front nine holes.
Home to good practice facilities including a 50-birth driving range, large practice green, chipping zone and bunker. The pro-shop is well stocked and if you have forgotten anything you should find it in the store.
You have a choice of hotels in which to stay, including the Sheraton, a luxury hotel overlooking the course and ocean. With many other activities available, including water sports plus a choice of restaurants, Fuerteventura Golf Club is a great place to stay for a golfing holiday.
