Have you been tasked with organising your golf groups next golf holiday? Group leaders fear missed tee times, transfers not showing up and torrential rain (although you can’t have much control over that!). We can help take the stress of organising your golf trip and if you follow our guide below the weight from your shoulders will be eased…we promise.

Group golf holiday are fantastic fun, but organising them can become a headache. Here are some top tips for making organising your group golf holiday easy and stress free:

1. Plan Ahead

Start planning as early as possible. This means you get better choice and availability for accommodation and tee times, as well as better prices for accommodation and flights. It will also give you more time to coordinate the group, especially the inevitable stragglers! The larger the group, the sooner you should start planning. In addition think about holiday weather as this will have a bearing on the time of year you go and the conditions you are prepared to play in.

2. Initial Decisions

Get the group together for an initial meeting and agree some basics, such as numbers of people, budget and dates. This will avoid wasting time looking at unrealistic options later. If you can have some flexibility on dates, it can help with finding the best holiday. Appoint specific members of the group of organise sections of the golf trip, such as contacting tour companies, booking flights so everyone knows their role in organising the trip.

3. Organising Golf

You should organise your rounds of golf at the same time as you’re booking your holiday, to make sure you get the the tee times you want and you can play the courses you want. Try and decide how much golf the group wants to play, 18 holes a day or 18 holes every second day? This could affect the price of the holiday, as well as how much time you have for other activities on holiday. Are there any other preferences for golf – do you want an on-site golf course, do you want to play a variety of golf courses on your holiday and are there any ‘must-play’ courses?

Our must play golf courses for groups are:

4. Other Activities and Nightlife

In addition to golf, does the group want to do any other activities (eg water sports)? It’s worth making sure these facilities are available at the resort to avoid complaints from the group once you get there.

If you have any non-golfers in the group, you should make sure the resort has activities to keep the non-golfers occupied during the day whilst the golfers are out of the course, such as beaches and spas.

And for the evenings, try and decide whether you prefer a resort with a buzzy marina and nightlife for the group to have nights out or if you prefer a hotel where you can have quieter meals to make sure you’re ready for a full day’s golf the next day!

5. Finding the Right Golf Resort

There are some great hotels for golf groups, with fantastic amenities providing a hassle free holiday. Apartments are also a great for golf groups – they can keep the price down, give you more space and a place to hang out.

Some resorts provide group discounts, it’s always worth asking about these and making sure you have the right numbers in your group to take advantage of the discounts. Click here for a range of our most popular golf group deals for golf holidays.

Some of the most popular destinations for a group golf holiday are:

SPAIN – Spain is one of the most popular destinations for group holiday. Superb golfing climate, buzzy marinas and challenging golf makes this a really good destination for your golf holiday.  Our choice for a good group holiday would be the H10 Andalucia Plaza in the Costa Del Sol.

PORTUGAL – Many groups return to Portugal on golf holidays year after year. Portugal has a great choice of golf courses with the centre of group golf holidays being Vilamoura in The Algarve.  A stunning marina and the Oceanico golf courses wind around the town – a fantastic one-stop-shop for golfers!

TURKEY – Turkey has some amazing hotels and golf courses for groups. Belek has an array of courses and five star hotels.  The real benefit for groups is the all-inclusive golf holiday concept.

6. The Money Bit

In general when booking a golf holiday, you are required to pay a deposit per person upfornt when you book the holiday and then the balance 8 weeks before departure. When organising a group, it’s worth gathering the money up front and in advance of booking the trip. This will avoid delay in securing your holiday and avoids strain on the organiser’s credit card due to people delaying paying their share or changing their minds!

7. Contact a Tour Company

Tour companies, like 360 Golf Holidays, can provide expert advice on the best group holidays. They can organise tee times and transfers to and from the hotel and golf courses and have preferential rates for group golf holidays, making it cheaper and easier to organise a group golf holiday.
