Ballybunion is flat out incredible. It truly is one of the great links courses in the world. The Tom Simpson layout can never disappoint. Tom Watson has a love affair with the links course and has been quoted on numerous occasions on his favourite course we agree with this quote though. “Ballybunion is the course on which many golf architects should live and play on before they build golf courses”
Lahinch is one of the finest links golf courses in the land. Home to the 2019 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open won by countryman Shane Lowery. Lahinch has been carved from natural terrain by Old Tom Morris, Alistair Mackenzie, and Martin Hawtree and is often described as the St.Andrews of Ireland. Lahinch is a course of blind shots, ocean views, and incredible memorability.
The European Club is one of the Quirkiest Links courses in Ireland. Located just 30 miles south from Dublin you will find this Pat Ruddy 20 Hole. There are two extra par 3’s on the course to ensure that distance between green to tees was kept to a minimum whilst also ensuring that the course flows with the lay of the land. Glorious views and distinctive Railway sleeper bunker faces abound The European Club is one that pleases the eye from the very first tee box.
Waterville Golf Links is set in an idyllic setting. Quality hole designs and true links experience place Waterville among the world’s elite. Designed by Eddie Hackett and re-modelled by Tom Fazio in 2002 this is one of the very finest golf courses in Ireland. Make no mistake this is a tough golf course. The competitive record for the links is Tony Jacklin’s (71) So make sure that you bring you ‘A’ game when you play this absolute stunner of a golf course.
The Championship links of Portmarnock is without doubt one of the most loved links layouts in the world. A good and fair test of golf . There is nothing man-made about Portmarnock, just a simple two loops of nine holes invariably playing in different directions but at total mercy to the wind. Portmarnock is a formidable test of golf that is held in great esteem.
There are often arguments as to the greatest courses in these islands, but no one would dispute Portmarnock’s right to a place in the first few Peter Thompson
One of the most enjoyable links courses I have had an opportunity to play Tiger Woods
