Mallorca

Mallorcan Golf Breaks from £245pp - Contact Our Golf Travel Experts

Also known as Majorca it's the largest of the Balearic Islands and is located in the Mediterranean Sea, off the east coast of Spain. The Island offers its visitors hot, dry summers and pleasant mild winters, with over 300 days of sunshine a year.

In and around the city of Palma is where the majority of Mallorca's residents live. The great thing is, by arriving in Palma (which is the island’s airport), distances to the most popular regions of the island are small, less than 50 miles in most cases.  This means it is possible to pick from every location and golf course on the island, safe in the knowledge, that all of them are easily reachable upon arrival.  With the flight from the United Kingdom averaging around 2 hours, it could not be easier to book a holiday.

Many of the courses are located on the western side of the island, around the city of Palma, with the main exceptions being Pula Resort, which is located on the east coast and Clube de Golf Alcanada, which is on the northern tip of the island. Pula Resort has been renovated in recent years and is now a recognised championship standard course, whereas Clube de Golf Alcanada offers spectacular scenery with a varied layout.

Moving closer to the city of Palma and situated at the Arabella Resort is Son Vida, the eldest, not only of the three courses at the resort but on the whole island. Offering fantastic views of the Bay of Palma, Son Vida is a lovely parkland course. The other two courses making up the Arabella Golf and Spa Resort are Son Quint, which is the most recently constructed of the three and Son Muntaner. Each of the three courses are sufficiently different and have their own feel.

Other courses close to Palma include the Jack Nicklaus designed Puntiro Club and Son Gual, which hosted the Mallorca Senior Open in 2009, among other events.

Suffice to say, that wherever one decides to stay on the island it's a must for any discerning golfer. A great year round climate is matched by a superb selection of luxury hotels and quality courses, many of which can be reached easily upon arrival from Palma airport.
