Killarney Golf & Fishing Club located on Lough Leane in Killarney has forty-five holes of the great golf course. The flagship golf course is the 18 hole Championship layout, Killarney Killen Course. Measuring some 7,123 yards, it is a test even for the long hitters in the game.
This popular and very much famous golf course has hosted the Irish Open four times in 1991, 1992, 2010 & 20111 and not counting the 1996 Curtis Cup and the 2002 European Solheim Cup. So pedigree of the course even in this illustrious company makes it one of the best in Ireland's South West.
Hole number one on the at Killeen Course is a slight dogleg to the right. Loch Leane is awaiting any errant drives. When approaching the green to ensure you stay on the green left to ensure your feet stay dry.
The 13th hole at Killeen is the signature hole and is index 1 for a reason. This long par 4 is just under 505 yards and is a very demanding hole with a well-placed stream in front of the green. Playing short or going for the green what's your approach going to be.
As finishing holes go the 18th here is a great finishing hole that plays back into the clubhouse. Stay right off the tee and remain there as the water is all of the ways down the left of the fairway. Position yourself correctly, and you stand a good chance of par with this tricky and challenging green.
This great course is a must-play when down in the South-West of Ireland.
