Heythrop Park Resort
Heythrop Park Resort is located in Enstone at the heart of the Cotswolds, Heythrop Park Resort is among Oxfordshire’s most impressive resorts offering accommodation in both age-old, in the 18th Century Manor House, alternatively a more modern trendy option in the Crown Plaza Hotel, thus creating endless business opportunities and recreation.
The job of designing the new golf course at Heythrop Park came to Tom Mackenzie of Mackenzie & Ebert, who worked alongside English Heritage as the project called for 90 percent of the iconic estate parkland to be replenished. Mackenzie has laid out the championship layout and the results are stunning.
The 7088 yard par-72 is characteristically English in nature, with landmarks that include green surrounded by water short par-4 6th, culminating in an arrow-tight closing hole, a modest 600 yards long and with an imposing mansion house in the background.
Golf
Tom MacKenzie rebuilt the Bainbridge golf course at Heythrop Park in 2009. The 18-hole course rambles over the ridges and through the valleys of ancient woodland, lakes, and streams. The Bainbridge Course at Heythrop Park portrayed as the sleeping giant of English golf and the Bainbridge course is spectacular. But it’s not been long on the golf scene, so it’s still waiting to be found by so many golfers. We would very much recommend a visit here, with three signature holes, the 313-yard par 4 6th hole, drivable but with risk as the green sits adjacent to the fishing lake, the par 5, 14th a sweeping leftwards around the ancient woodland, the longest and last 18th Hole at just under 600 yards is as straight as an arrow with the backdrop of the ancient Century Manor House, a great way to finish an enjoyable round of golf.
