Panmure Golf Club
Panmure Golf Club is one of the worlds oldest Golf Courses and one of our favoured hidden gems in Scotland.
In 1880 Panmure become an eighteen-hole golf course and although has been gently modernised in recent years, the course still optimises everything great about golf in Scotland.
Panmure is an Open Qualifying golf course just a couple of miles south of The Open Venue of Carnoustie.
The Club has some truly wonderful history and most notably was where Ben Hogan made base for practice for his only Open Championship appearance in 1953. Hogan went on to claim the Claret Jug at Carnoustie and much of that was down to the preparation on this wonderful course in which he was truly fond of. Hogans favourite hole was the 6th.
Panmure has clearly been a long-standing members course but with some of the friendliest hospitality in the world, welcome visitors to come and play this wonderful links land course.
Typical Links Characteristics
There is nothing about Panmure that doesn’t live and breath the standards you would expect from the very best golf courses in Scotland. The Greens are tricky and incredibly quick, The Bunkering superbly placed and punishing if found and the proliferate winds will certainly ensure you bring every shot in the Arsenal for your round.
Panmure is an understated, and visually stunning Links golf course. What you will enjoy when playing here is a distinguished linksland course with an abundance of charisma and charm.
This course is exceptional value for money and one that should form an essential part of any golfing holiday when playing in this part of the country.
The Sixth Hole was Ben Hogans favourite and ours too. A fabulous par 4 on the angle with tons of quality. A semi-blind drive over dense heather offers plenty of excitement and as you walk down towards a bedraggled fairway that bottlenecks and then winds its way up to a green camouflaged in the sandhills but visible enough to make you aware that leaving the ball out to the right is less than desirable.
Make sure you combine Panmure when touring the East coastline.
