County Louth Golf Club
The East Coast of Ireland has many hidden golfing gems and one more of note is the County Louth Golf Club or “Baltray” and opened its doors for play in 1938
Just an hour’s drive north of Dublin you will find the village of Baltray Co Louth, just a short four-mile drive away from the historic town of Drogheda.
The mouth of the Boyne is where the southern part of the golf course is located and with the Irish Sea to the east, this ranks amongst some of the best Links courses on the east coast.
The course covers 190 acres with all 18 Holes running ins different directions, so on a windy day, you can be tested more than once or twice during your round. The 12th and 13th holes are only exceptions and both run parallel to the sea. At nearly 7,000 yards, Baltray is certainly is no short course, and taking into account all of the natural hazards and prevailing winds it is a great test of golf for golfers of all abilities.
Highly recommended, and certainly a great addition to Ireland Golf and the likes of Portmarnock Golf Links, The Island and Portmarnock golf club.
