Severiano Ballesteros designed the spectacular par 72 with a singular layout of 6 par 3, 6 par 4 and six par 5, which means that you never play two consecutive holes with the same par on the same round, an option which makes the game much more varied and amusing and gives many opportunities for a birdie. Seve designed 5 large lakes affecting 12 of the 18 holes. All of which supposes an attractive challenge for golfers of all levels.
Alicante Golf is considered one of the courses with the best maintenance and design of the whole of Spain, a reputation enhanced by the performance of the important and costly green reconstruction project which lasted 5 years between 2004 and 2008, in which the course’s 18 greens were rebuilt to improve the design and the agricultural aspects of watering, drainage, landscaping, and molding. Since these reformations, the course has had 18 true luxury greens, and especially the new green on the 18th hole, which has given the course its spectacular and dramatic end that can be seen from the rooms of the Hotel Alicante Golf.

Alicante Golf Club Details
Alicante Golf was officially opened on 23 January 1998 in a ceremony presided by its designer, Severiano Ballesteros, and in the presence of the then President of the Spanish Golf Federation, Emma Villacieros.
In December 2001, the Club hosted the LevanteCup, a competition of professionals that brought together a selection of pros from the Valencia Community. A very young Sergio García (2nd person crouching from the left) and José Manuel Lara (4th person standing from the left) formed part of the selection.
Both the APG professional circuit and the Peugeot Tour Classification School have chosen this course as a scenario for important competitions. The School was disputed in Alicante Golf from its foundation in 2002 to 2005, when young promises played who were already beginning to stand out, such as Álvaro Quirós (3rd) and Pablo Larrazábal.
After organising the APG Spanish Championship in 2002 and 2003, which was won by José Manuel Carriles and Ignacio Garrido respectively, Alicante Golf reached its final consecration as a headquarters for large professional tournaments with the Grand Final of the Peugeot Tour of Spain in 2004, which was won by the player of the European Circuit Santi Luna.
The course record was set at 62 strokes by the great Pepín Rivero, a member of the European Ryder Cup champions team in 1985 and 1987, on the first day of the APG Spanish Championship in 2003, taking the record from José Manuel Lara who had left it at 64 strokes a year before on the third day of play of the APG Spanish Championship 2002.
Alicante Golf stands in exceptional surroundings virtually on the coast of Playa de San Juan just 5 minutes from Alicante, from where to enjoy the excellent facilities of the capital of leisure and nightlife.
