Dromoland Castle is regarded as one of the finest conditioned parkland courses in the country. Designed by Ron Kirby and JB Carr who were the due behind the masterpiece of Old Head. This course is set over 450 acres of land wrapping around the historic Dromoland Castle and the course stretches over 6824 yards.
The River Rine is a prominent course feature flowing throughout the parkland layout, and the fantastic course design will mean that the Rine is in play on many holes. The land pacts' natural topography as a considerable challenge to even the finest golfers with plenty of water hazards and well-positioned bunkers coming into play on many of the golf holes.
Dromoland castle not only acts as a great stay and play resort. The hotel is genuinely 5-star but also fantastic to bolt onto a tour whilst playing around County Clare.
The course is only 10 minutes from Shannon Airport so can be played on the day of arrival or day of departure if your trip involves flights.
The 7th is a great hole. A lovely par three at a little over 170 yards, in which all plays downhill. The green has a pond short left and bunkers guarding the putting surface, So make sure that you take enough club to reach the dancefloor.
